Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has extended resumption of academic activities earlier slated for March 14, 2023 to March 20, 2023 following the postponement of the forthcoming Governorship and State House of Assembly’s polls to March 18, 2023 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). INEC had shifted the polls from March 11, to allow it enough time to reconfigure the BIVAS machine having gotten the Court’s nod to do so.
In a statement by Wole Balogun, the Special Adviser on Media Matters to Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, the Vice-Chancellor, FUOYE, the University effected the extension to allow students stay at home and peacefully cast their votes on March 18 as part of their civic responsibilities to the nation.
Balogun cited a circular from the University Registrar, Mr. Mufutau Ibrahim, which reads in part: “Following the postponememt of the 2023 Governorship and State House of Assembly elections from March 11,2023 to March 18, 2023 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), l hereby convey the University Management’s decision that the resumption date has been extended to Monday, March 20, 2023.
The University Management has also decided that, with effect from Tuesday, March 21, 2023 to Saturday, March 25, 2023, there will be interractive physical classes to prepare students adequately for the forthcoming 2022/2023 first semester examinations. “
The VC’s media aide also recounted that FUOYE had launched an effective online teaching by the lecturers for all the students which began from February 23, 2023 to ensure that students cover the required syllabuses for their academic programmes and gurrantee that they graduate in appropriate time.
