As the 2027 general elections approach, the people of Ekiti North Senatorial District are once again confronted with a crucial decision that will determine the quality of representation, development, and voice they will have in Nigeria’s highest legislative chamber, the Senate.
Without sentiment or political bias, a critical evaluation of past and present representation clearly shows why Senator Ayo Arise stands out as the most credible candidate to return to the Red Chamber. Proven Track Record of Leadership and Influence
During his tenure between 2007 and 2011, Senator Arise distinguished himself not just as a lawmaker, but as a strategic influencer within the National Assembly. As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Privatisation, he operated at the heart of national economic reforms, positioned Ekiti North with key federal discussions and opportunities.
Beyond titles, Arise’s era was marked by strong federal connections, visibility, and a deep understanding of how to attract development to his constituency. His role in the processes that led to the establishment of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), widely acknowledged in political discourse, remains one of the most impactful legacies tied to Ekiti North.
Arise’s grassroots engagement and People-Centered Politics stand him out unlike many career politicians, he has consistently maintained direct engagement with his people, understanding their needs beyond election cycles. His accessibility, political experience, and community-based approach continue to earn him respect across towns , wards in Ekiti North, Ekiti state and Nigeria.
Even outside public office, Arise has remained vocal on governance, democracy, demonstrating that leadership is not confined to holding office but sustained by influence and advocacy.
Experience Matters in the political landscape of Nigeria, now that the country faces complex socio-economic challenges, experience is not optional—it is essential. Arise brings a blend of legislative experience, private sector success, and international exposure, making him better equipped to navigate the intricacies of lawmaking and attract meaningful development.
In contrast, the performance of the incumbent, Senator Cyril Fasuyi, has generated mixed reactions among constituents that his performance fall short of the scale and influence expected from a senator representing a strategic district like Ekiti North for over three years in office without landmark projects, no strong legislative dominance, or transformational federal presence comparable to what is required to reposition the district for long-term growth except for few solar street lights, laptops, exercise books and tokenism branded as achievements. His three years in the senate has drew Ekiti North backward.
In lieu of this, many believe the district has not maximized its full potential in recent years thereby beacon on Senator Ayo Arise who’s tested, trusted with strategic influence to represent Ekiti North again. This is not merely about politics—it is about results.
With Arise, Ekiti North is not experimenting; it is returning to experience, proven connections, and a leader who understands both the grassroots and the corridors of power.
As 2027 draws nearer, the choice before the people is clear: continue on a path of modest impact ,return to a legacy of strong representation and visible influence.
For the Progressive constituents , the answer lies in giving Senator Ayo Arise another opportunity to serve—and to restore Ekiti North’s voice where it matters most
