A group operating in Ekiti State under the auspices of Unifiers’ Club, has eulogised the Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele for facilitating the establishment of a new Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, Iyin Ekiti, to expand the scope of education in the state.
The group posited that siting such an institution in Ekiti will boost the economy through employment generation, tremendous expansion of scholarship and knowledge acquisition, as well as launching of the state to higher pedestal via access to higher education.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, had last week assented to a bill seeking the establishment of the university in Ekiti State.
The bill was sponsored by Senator Bamidele, who is representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District in the Senate.
The Club, via a statement signed by its Chairman, Abayomi Ibrahim Ogundipe and Secretary, Olumide Akindele and made available on Sunday, saluted the lawmaker for being thoughtful and futuristic to spearhead the sponsorship of such landmark bill.
The group posited that Senator Bamidele would stand in the annals of history as one Federal Lawmaker, whose imprints would be difficult to erase as a result of his exemplary contributions to the socio economic development of the state.
The Club also rejoiced with the Oluyin of Iyin Ekiti, Oba Adeola Adeniyi Ajakaye, whose reign has brought unprecedented development to the community through strong partnership with critical stakeholders to bolster development in all spheres of the economy.
“As a club of enlightened and conscious youth, we recognize the role of this university as a catalyst for development, and we are grateful to Mr President, the minister of education and all stakeholders for this honour.
“We appreciate the zealous efforts of the golden son of Iyin-Ekiti and Majority Leader of the 10th Senate, Distinguished Senator (Dr.) Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, CON.
