In order to make food production sufficient in Ekiti state, the Coordinator of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) in Ekiti State, Hon. Sunday Adunmo, has distributed bags of fertilisers to farmers in Oye Constituency 2.
Hon Adunmo emphasized the importance of supporting rural farmers with essential inputs, especially fertilizer to enhance crop yield and reduce food scarcity. He noted that the fertiliser distribution would improve rural infrastructure and boost agricultural marketing systems in Ekiti State.
Hon Adunmo who was represented by Hon Ogunjobi Ariyo in a brief ceremony held in Hon Adunmo’s house in Ilupeju Ekiti, said Agriculture remains the backbone of Nigeria economy, hence the need to increase food production and reduce poverty in our communities,”
Hon Ariyo, added that the gesture was targeted at small holder farmers, who constitute the bulk of the agricultural workforce in Oye constituency 2 to ensure they are adequately equipped to meet the growing demand for food in Ekiti state and beyond.
The one hundred beneficiaries were carefully selected from Ilupeju ward 1 and 2, Ire ward 1and 2, Osin Itapa and Omu Ijelu wards.
Earlier, the APC Chairman in Oye Local Government, Hon Samuel Ogunsakin had commended Hon Adunmo for providing fertilizers for farmers in the area, saying the gesture would increase the productivity of the farmers. He advised the beneficiaries to make judicious use of it and not to sell them .
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries: Mr Dele Ojo, Mrs Omosofe Regina, Mr Fajembola JIMOH and Mr Origami Samuel appreciated Hon Adunmo for the kind gesture, prayed God to continually bless and elevate him politically.
Dignitaries at the event include: High chief Alonge, former Ward 1 chairman, Hon Jimoh OLUWOLE, SSA to governor Oyebanji on wealth creation, Hon Sesan Oniyelu and Hon Kayode Ogidi, Ilupeju Ward 2 Councillor among others.
