A pro-democracy organisation, ‘Elegant Support Group’ on Thursday endorsed Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State for second term in office.
The event, held at Fajuyi Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, had in attendance over 500 women across the three senatorial districts of the state.
Speaking at the programme, the Director-General of the group, Bosede Abereagbe, hailed Governor Oyebanji for his remarkable development strides across various sectors, noting that his administration has transformed the landscape of the state significantly.
According to her, the group was established in 2022 to empower women in Ekiti has greatly benefited from the government’s inclusive and people-centered policies, which prompted the endorsement.
She further applauded the governor for appointing women into key positions, describing it as a strong testament to his commitment to gender inclusivity.
“Our governor has done absolutely well, he has done very well for the people of Ekiti.
“We want to commend his development strides across all sectors in Ekiti, the state has never had it this good.
“Is it about the health sector? Is it about education? Is it about women empowerment? These are all the things that Governor Biodun Oyebanji has done to deserve this endorsement” she added
In his remarks, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, expressed delight at the group for their support, while reiterating his administration’s dedication to delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
Oyebanji, represented by the Director General, Bureau of Community Communication, Mary Oso-Omotosho assured the crowd of continued investment in welfare initiatives, including prompt payment of salaries, improved infrastructure and enhanced social services.
Also speaking at the event, Chairman of the Joint Negotiating Council (JNC), Ekiti State, Femi Ajoloko, encouraged the group to remain focused and guard against distractions or selfish interests that may derail their mission of supporting the governor for second term.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ekiti State Chapter, Kolapo Olatunde, also lauded the group for their initiative and pledged the NLC’s support for their future engagements.
Other highlight of the event was the inauguration of new 22 executive members of the group.
