Former President-General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Chief Bayo Oyero, who leads the 44th Coronation Committee of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, has announced a week programme for the historic event.
The committee at its inaugural meeting held in Ibadan on Monday, announced that the coronation activities will commence on Monday, 22nd September 2025.
In a statement, the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, disclosed that the programme will start on Monday, September 22, with an interdenominational service at the Olubadan Palace, Oke Aremo, organised by the CCII.
On Tuesday, a Cultural Day will be held, promoted by the CCII in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. This will be followed by a Coronation Lecture to be delivered by Prof. Toyin Falola.
On Thursday, a Mega Praise Worship will take place at the Civic Centre, Idi Ape, while the grand coronation of the new Olubadan will hold on Friday at Mapo Hall.
The statement noted that the inaugural meeting was attended by commissioner for local government and chieftaincy matters, Hon Demola Ojo, representatives of the Olubadan, including the Asipa Olubadan-designate, Oba Hamidu Ajibade; Chief Nureni Adisa; and the Olubadan’s Media Aide, Chief Adeola Oloko.
Also present were the Commissioners for Culture and Tourism, Women Affairs, and Information. Local government chairmen of Egbeda and Ibadan South-East represented the 11 local government councils in Ibadanland, while the member of the House of Assembly representing Ibadan South-East also attended.
The Governor’s Director-General of Protocol, along with the Permanent Secretaries of Protocol and the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, were equally in attendance.
