The Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has been commended for the prompt payment of medical residency fund for Resident Doctors in the state.
The Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), Ekiti State Chapter gave the commendation during a thank you visit to the State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Oyebanji Filani in Ado-Ekiti.
Speaking on behalf of others during the visit, the President of the Association, Dr Ayodeji Olatayo lauded Governor Biodun Oyebanji for payment of Medical Residency Training Funds as well as his dedication to the welfare of healthcare professionals in Ekiti.
Dr Olatayo commended the Governor for the salary increase and for the implementation of revised salary structure (CONMESS and CONHESS), payment of hazard allowances which he noted has not only boosted the morale of but has also attracted top talents to the state’s healthcare sector.
In her remarks, a former two-term President of the Association in Ekiti State and a Consultant, Dr Lola Alao-Ajayi appreciated the Commissioner’s tireless efforts in facilitating the payment, which has eased the financial burden of such medical training on the medical doctors.
Responding, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Oyebanji Filani said that Governor Biodun Oyebanji has indeed made significant strides and shown commitment to improving the health and well being of Ekiti residents through numerous initiatives.
Dr Filani noted that as part of steps
to boost and enhance service delivery, the State Government recently recruited and trained over 250 health workers to complement and strengthen the existing workforce adding that Government had in addition equipped most General Hospitals and over 100 Primary Health Centres across the State.
While acknowledging the Governor’s usual responsiveness to the needs of Ekiti healthcare professionals, the Commissioner encouraged the beneficiaries to use the opportunities provided by the State’s support to strive for academic excellence and clinical distinction.
