The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council, has unveiled the line-up of activities for its 2025 Press Week, scheduled to commence on Friday, October 17, 2025.
According to a statement by the Chairman of the Press Week Planning Committee, Comrade Lawrence Ibitoye, the week-long celebration will feature a variety of events aimed at fostering professional excellence, camaraderie, and community engagement among journalists and stakeholders in the state.
The programme of events is as follows:
Friday, October 17: Jumat Service at the Central Mosque, Oja Oba, Ado Ekiti by 1: Pm
Sunday, October 19: Thanksgiving Service at Holy Trinity Authority Church, along Atlas, Ado Ekiti by
8:00 am
Monday, October 20: Iyan Carnival at the NUJ Secretariat, Oke Ori-Omi, by 2:00 p.m.
Tuesday, October 21: medical Outreach at the NUJ Secretariat, commencing at 8:00 a.m and
Novelty Match between journalists and members of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) at Ball and Ball, Adehun, Ado Ekiti by 4:00 p.m.
Wednesday, October 22: Award night and Dinner at Hassanat Hall, Basiri, Ado Ekiti, by 4:00 p.m.
Comrade Ibitoye disclosed that the highlight of the week will be the Award and Dinner, during which the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, will be honoured in recognition of his outstanding developmental strides across the state.
Other distinguished awardees include the Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele, Commissioner of police, Ekiti state, CP Joseph Eribo, Member former House of Representatives, Hon Bimbo Daramola, the president of the Court of Appeal, Ekiti Division. Justice Monisola Oluwatoyin Abodunde and Mr Olufemi Aluko, MD Delko holdings LTD .
A former member house of Representatives, Hon Bimbo Daramola in his lecture will x-ray Ekiti YESTERDAY, TODAY AND TOMORROW.
The Committee Chairman urged all journalists in the state and well-meaning individuals to participate actively in the outlined events, which, he said, promise to be educative, entertaining, and impactful.
