The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council, in partnership with Maternal-Child Specialists’ Clinic, Women and Children Development and Health Research Initiative (WCDHRI), Deby’s Place, and Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria (PPFN) set to organise a free medical outreach as part of line up programmes for its 2025 Press Week.
The one-day event, will hold on 21st October 2025, at the NUJ Secretariat Ado-Ekiti. The outreach will include ; health awareness, tests for blood pressure and blood sugar, weight, cervical cancer screening, provision of family planning and reproductive health counseling, eye test and distribution of free cloths sponsored by Deby’s Place .
The 2025 Press Week Planning Committee Chairman, Comrade Lawrence Ibitoye, explained that the initiative underscores the collaboration between the media, health sector and other relevant stakeholders on health advocacy and community service, he urged members of the public to make good opportunity of the outreach to attend to their ailing cases.
On his part, Director of WCDHRI, Dr. Olubunmi Ade-Ojo, expressed readiness to continually support Press Week , saying that the outreach programmes are part of their corporate social responsibility to assist the less privileged in the society as well as promote the well-being of people.
Recall that the collaboration between journalists and health practitioners on medical outreach, began during 2024 Press Week, aimed at promoting public health awareness and providing free healthcare services to journalists and members of the public.
