President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a major shake-up in the leadership of Nigeria’s Armed Forces, a move geared towards reinforcing the nation’s security framework.

(Media & Public Communication the new appointments have General Olufemi Oluyede as Chief of Defence Staff, succeeding General Christopher Musa. Major-General W. Shaibu has been named Chief of Army Staff, while Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke assumes duty as the Chief of Air Staff. Rear Admiral I. Abbas becomes the new Chief of Naval Staff.
Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye retains his role as Chief of Defence Intelligence.
President Tinubu, who serves as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, commended the outgoing Service Chiefs for their sacrifice and commitment to Nigeria’s peace and security. He urged the new appointees to uphold the values of professionalism, vigilance, and unity that define the military.
The appointments take immediate effect.
