yet-to-be-identified passenger died after a commercial bus crashed into a stationary tipper truck at Majidun, inward Ogolonto on Ikorodu Road, Lagos.
LASTMA, in a statement by its spokesperson Adebayo Taofiq, said the Volkswagen bus (EPE 494 XM), chartered for a trip to Ogijo, suffered sudden brake failure while speeding, causing the driver to lose control and collide with the parked truck.
The impact killed a female passenger instantly and left six others severely injured. The victims were taken to Benic Special Hospital, while the deceased was moved to the General Hospital, Ikorodu.
Both the bus driver and the tipper driver—who allegedly tried to flee—were arrested and handed over to the Ipakodo Police Division for investigation.
LASTMA cleared the wreckage to restore traffic flow, while its General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed condolences to the bereaved family and wished the injured quick recovery.
