The Ekiti State Government has received a donation of truck spare parts from Dangote Sinotruk West African Ltd to support the operations of the Ekiti State Waste Management Authority (EKSWAMA), aimed at strengthening waste management services across the state.
Receiving the items on behalf of the state government, the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Erelu Tosin Aluko-Ajisafe, described the donation as a timely intervention that would enhance the servicing and operational efficiency of the Authority’s fleet.
She expressed appreciation to the management of Dangote Sinotruk for partnering with the state in promoting effective waste collection and environmental sanitation.
Speaking at the event, the Director-General of EKSWAMA, Mr. Olasunkanmi Onipede, highlighted the importance of the donation in reducing operational downtime and ensuring consistent service delivery.
“With these spare parts, our trucks will be better maintained and more reliable, allowing us to respond promptly to waste management needs and sustain the clean environment agenda of the present administration.” he said
The Dangote Sinotruk delegation was led by Mr. Sunday Dairo, Assistant General Manager, Marketing and Sales, who reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting government initiatives, particularly in the areas of environmental sustainability and efficient waste management.
Also present at the event were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, Dr. Sunday Omoya, and the General Manager of EKSWAMA, Engineer Tawose, among other officials of the Ministry and the Authority.
The collaboration underscores the shared commitment of the Ekiti State Government and private sector stakeholders to maintaining a cleaner, healthier environment and strengthening waste management infrastructure in the state.
