An Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan has affirmed the validity of the 2025 National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The convention, which held in Ibadan in November 2025, produced a new set of national officers for the opposition party.
Delivering judgment on Friday, Justice Ladiran Akintola of Court 5 ruled while determining an application for joinder in the matter. He held that the convention was duly convened and conducted in strict compliance with the PDP constitution and applicable electoral guidelines.
The suit was instituted by Folahan Malomo Adelabi, who approached the court through his counsel, Musbau Adetunmbi, seeking several declarations challenging the legality of the convention and its outcomes.
In his ruling, Justice Akintola granted all 13 reliefs sought by the claimant, thereby validating the processes and resolutions adopted at the convention. The court also dismissed all objections raised against the exercise, noting that no credible evidence was presented to establish any violation of due process or internal party rules.
The judgment effectively puts to rest weeks of uncertainty, as the leadership elected at the Ibadan convention now enjoys full legal recognition.
