A renowned Ado Ekiti Prophet and General Overseer, Holy Trinity Authority Prophetic Church International, Pastor James Omitade, has described poor and fake spiritual manifestations and development, as a major contributory factor stalling the progress of the Nigerian nation.
The fiery man of God regretted that most of those alleged of corruption and other nefarious offences, are those perceived to be devouted christians and Muslims, saying majority of Nigerians no longer consider faith building as something worthwhile.
Prophet Omitade said these on Monday, during a special church programme tagged: “Nigerians not faithful to their faiths”, held in his church located in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State Capital.
Addressing the participants, Pastor Omitade, said spiritual reliability remains a potent weapon to build a nation, but regretted that “fakery” has taken over the religious setting, thereby causing poor spiritual growth among the people.
He regretted that despite Nigeria being proclaimed as a highly evangelistic country, cases of banditry, corruption, killings, kidnappings and other heinous crimes still pervade the system.
“It is sad that Nigerians are not faithful to their faiths. Our connection with God is very weak and poor spiritual growth is the major foundation of our problems.
“That the Muslims and christians started fasting the same day this year shows spiritual significance. But has anything changed since the beginning of the spiritual exercise?
“We are still witnessing corruption, killings , kidnappings and banditry, even during the fasting period .
“Muslim said islam is a religion of peace, while Christianity propagates love. Anyone that doesn’t love can’t propagate peace. Now, why are we still having problems when these two major faiths preach peace and love?”.
Prophet Omitade alleged that most Nigerians now get involved in spiritual exercises to either seek forgiveness of their sins or certain favours from God and not out of puritan minds and conviction that God is the owner of the universe.
The Cleric warned that the multifaceted problems hitting the country from all fronts will persist, if Nigerian citizens continue to treat issue of spirituality with kid’s gloves.
“We are no longer involving in spiritual exercises for convictions and out of clean minds, but just trying to get favours from God. Despite the fasting, we are still witnessing kidnapping, banditry, insurgency and robbery everywhere.
“If we follow the laws of God and principles properly, we will live in peace and Nigeria will be better. But are we ready as a people?
“Enough of this cosmetic faith. We have to be honest in our ways of serving God for the nation to be in peace and unity. Nearly everybody has lost his conscience and sense of responsibility. They are not in us again. Our mouths are too quick to call the name of God, but our hearts are far away from Him.
“Going to churches and Mosques has become a way of mere socialisation and not avenue for spiritual building, and path to fruitfulness, honesty, uprightness and sincerity. And this is highly regrettable”.
