Senator Ayo Arise, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and aspirant for the Ekiti North Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections, has congratulated workers in Ekiti State, especially across the district, on the occasion of this year’s International Workers’ Day, describing them as a driving force for sustainable development.
In a statement issued by his media office, Arise commended workers for their unwavering dedication, resilience, and commitment to duty despite prevailing economic hardship and security challenges. He emphasized that civil servants remain the backbone of governance and grassroots development.
Aligning with the 2026 Workers’ Day theme, “Insecurity, Poverty – Bane of Decent Work,” the APC chieftain expressed deep concern over the impact of insecurity and poverty on workers’ productivity, morale, and overall well-being. He noted that a workforce cannot thrive in an environment characterized by fear, instability, and economic deprivation.
“Workers perform best in an atmosphere that guarantees safety, dignity, and fair reward for labour. Insecurity and poverty have continued to undermine these basic conditions, making decent work increasingly difficult to achieve,” Arise stated.
Arise, a staunch advocate of workers’ welfare, reiterated his commitment to championing policies that will not only improve remuneration but also create safer and more enabling work environments. He pledged to continue pushing for legislative frameworks that prioritize occupational safety, eliminate workplace hazards, and promote efficiency and innovation across sectors.
According to him, enhancing productivity must go hand in hand with protecting workers from violence, exploitation, and unsafe conditions. He stressed the need for deliberate investments in capacity building, modern work tools, and institutional reforms that empower workers to deliver optimally.
Arise also called on all tiers of government to intensify efforts in tackling insecurity while implementing people-oriented economic policies that will reduce poverty, generate employment, and restore dignity to labour.
He urged civil servants to remain steadfast, law-abiding, and committed to service delivery, assuring them that with purposeful leadership and strategic reforms, better days lie ahead.
Reaffirming his pro-workers stance, the politician pledged that, if elected in 2027, he would continue to advocate for prompt salary payments, improved working conditions, and policies that guarantee a safe, productive, and violence-free workplace.
The statement concluded with warm wishes to workers across Ekiti North and Nigeria as a whole, encouraging them to remain resolute in their contributions to national growth and development.
