The Federal Government has offered provisional licence for the operation of High- Flyers University, Ikere Ekiti, as a private institution in Ekiti State.
The Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission(NUC), Prof. Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, presented the certificate to the Proprietor of the university, Dr Busayo Ajayi in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, on Friday, 24th July 2026.
The certificate was signed by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa and the NUC Executive Secretary, Prof Ribadu, and dated 29th June, 2026
The licence was granted following the fulfilment of all requirements for the operation of a full fledged conventional university in the country.
As contained in the modus operandi set by NUC, the university is to begin operation with three faculties, containing 11 departments and 15 undergraduate programmes.
Under the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, the university will begin operations with courses like : Bachelor degrees in Nursing Science, Public Health, Physiotherapy, and Medical Laboratory Science.

Courses to be ran under Faculty of Science and Computing include: Bachelor Degrees in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Physics with Electronics, Science Laboratory Technology and Microbiology.
While Courses approved under the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences are: Bachelor Degrees in Accounting, Business administration, Criminology and Security Studies, and International Relations.
Elated by the development, the university’s Proprietor, Dr Busayo Ajayi, commended the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for creating enabling environment for the emergence of private universities that can strengthen the country’s education system.
Dr Ajayi promised to partner other world class scholars to run a functional university that will launch Nigeria to an enviable height globally and boost the country’s webometrics rating.
