The Inland Club, Ado-Ekiti, has honoured renowned sports coach, Chief Ayo Agbaje, popularly called Coach Puma in recognition of his contributions to the development and promotion of sports in Ekiti State.
The honour, according to the club, was in appreciation of Chief Agbaje’s commitment to sports development and his efforts towards nurturing sporting talents and promoting sporting activities in the state. Coach Agbaje, who has been associated with sporting activities in Ekiti for several years, has contributed to the growth of sports through coaching, talent development and mentorship of young athletes.
Speaking on the recognition, the leadership of the Inland Club described Agbaje as a sports enthusiast whose passion and dedication had positively impacted the sporting community in Ekiti State. The club noted that individuals who have distinguished themselves through service to society deserved to be celebrated, adding that Agbaje’s contribution to sports had made him worthy of recognition.
The honour also provided an opportunity for members of the club, sports enthusiasts and other stakeholders to celebrate the coach’s commitment to using sports as a tool for youth development, discipline and community building.
The Inland Club, one of the prominent social and recreational clubs in Ado-Ekiti, has historically provided opportunities for members to participate in sporting and recreational activities, including lawn tennis, table tennis and others
The club has also been associated with prominent personalities in Ekiti and has, over the years, recognised individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of the state.
The recognition of Coach Agbaje is therefore seen as an encouragement to sports administrators, coaches and other stakeholders to continue investing in the discovery and development of sporting talents in Ekiti.
Coach Agbaje applauded the club for recognising his efforts in Ekiti state, and promised to support sporting activities in the state. Coach Puma Agbaje is an ex- officio member of Ekiti state coaches .
