Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the immediate dissolution of boards, commissions and parastatals across the state, while also terminating the appointments of all political appointees.
Those affected by the directive include Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants and Technical Assistants serving in the administration.
The development was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yinka Oyebode, who said the decision was necessitated by the gradual winding down of the Governor’s first term ahead of the inauguration of his second term on October 16, 2026.
However, the dissolution does not affect chairmen and members of statutory bodies, including the State Independent Electoral Commission, Civil Service Commission, House of Assembly Service Commission and Judicial Service Commission. The governing councils of state-owned tertiary institutions also remain intact in line with the Governor’s earlier directives.
The chairmen of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Local Government Service Commission and Teaching Service Commission will remain in office, although the respective boards have been dissolved. Directors-General and Technical Advisers to the Governor are also exempted from the termination of appointments.
Governor Oyebanji expressed appreciation to the affected appointees for their contributions to his administration and service to the state, wishing them success in their future endeavours.
