The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Senatorial Candidate for Ekiti North, Dr. Olusegun Osinkolu, has called for unity, harmony and oneness among party members to ensure the success of the party in Ekiti State during the 2027 general elections.
Dr. Osinkolu made the call on Monday while on a visit to the State Working Committee of the party in Ado-Ekiti.
Osinkolu described the PDP as a party with a deep-rooted structure in Ekiti State, saying that with unity and a harmonious working relationship among its members across the state, the party will no doubt achieve electoral victory during the forthcoming general elections.
The politician expressed his readiness and determination to lead the PDP to the promised land through aggressive mobilization, campaigns and sensitization in Ekiti North Senatorial District, adding that the people of the district deserve a more responsive and efficient representative.
“I can assure you that the electorate are more informed, resolute and determined to vote for the PDP, especially in Ekiti North Senatorial District, because of the party’s antecedents and performance in the past.
“My aspiration as a candidate of the party in the district for the 2027 general elections has also provided fresh impetus for a resounding victory for the party,” he said, calling for oneness among all party leaders and members ahead of the polls.
Dr. Osinkolu explained that the people of the district are no doubt tired of the lukewarm, ineffective, inept and below-average performance of the current senator representing the area. He blamed most of the challenges confronting the constituents on the lack of affordable assistance from their representatives.
“It is high time politicians began to realize that any position you are holding today is to serve the people, especially by adding value to the electorate and the society at large. Many representatives in Ekiti State today are more interested in displaying personal wealth to oppress the voters who assisted them to get to power than in lifting them to escape poverty.
“It is unfortunate and unacceptable for our people to continue to live in abject poverty despite the huge resources now available at all levels of government after the removal of fuel subsidy, despite President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s various palliative measures to cushion its effects on Nigerians.
“The time has come to call on our representatives from Ekiti State to tell us how they have been utilizing the resources meant for the people. The level of poverty in Ekiti now is worrisome, and there is the need to change the narrative.”
The politician, however, called on voters in Ekiti State, especially in Ekiti North Senatorial District, to see his ambition as an avenue to liberate themselves from political enslavement and future uncertainty.
He assured the people of robust and responsive representation if voted to represent the district at the National Assembly.
The Ekiti State PDP Chairman, Hon. Lanre Omolase, while welcoming the candidate, eulogized the focus, commitment and zeal of Osinkolu to lead the party to victory during the 2027 general elections in the area.
Hon. Omolase called for the support of all loyal party members through aggressive mobilization and campaigns in all nooks and crannies of the district to achieve electoral success, saying the PDP remains the major opposition party with an undeniable sturdy structure across the state, hence the need to explore the structure and translate it into electoral victory.
