Traditional chieftaincy title holders in Ekiti State have pledged to mobilise one million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in the 2027 presidential election.
The Association of Ekiti Traditional Chieftaincy Title Holders made the pledge at a gathering hosted by the Managing Director of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Oyetunde Ojo, where members declared their support for the Tinubu administration and promised to intensify grassroots mobilisation across the state. The association’s Chairman, Chief Oluwole Ogunsakin, said its extensive network across towns, villages, families and community organisations would be deployed to achieve the target.
Ogunsakin explained that the association would encourage eligible voters to participate peacefully in the election and exercise their franchise freely. He also called for the involvement of traditional chiefs in the proposed state police recruitment process, arguing that their knowledge of local communities would help identify credible individuals capable of tackling insecurity, particularly criminal activities around farmlands. He expressed optimism that the proposed state police legislation would eventually become law.

Speaking at the gathering, Ojo praised the infrastructural development efforts of the Tinubu administration, particularly road construction, describing the projects as unprecedented. He said some of the roads were designed to last between 30 and 40 years, while also commending the President for promoting ethnic representation in federal appointments. Ojo further identified the ongoing construction of a military barracks in Ikere-Ekiti as a major intervention expected to strengthen security, create employment and stimulate economic activities in the state.
The former Governor of Ekiti State, Engr. Segun Oni, also called on political stakeholders and Nigerians to support Tinubu’s second-term ambition, stressing the need for collective commitment to the country’s development. Similarly, a former member of the House of Representatives, Bimbo Daramola, expressed confidence that Tinubu would secure an overwhelming victory in Ekiti in 2027, setting a target of 90 per cent of the state’s votes for the President.
The gathering featured the conferment of a patron title on Oyetunde Ojo in recognition of his contributions to community development, relationship with traditional institutions and philanthropic engagements. The association expressed its readiness to work with political stakeholders and deploy its grassroots structures towards achieving its one-million-vote target in the 2027 presidential election.
