A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Otunba Adesola Adeboro, has intensified efforts to galvanise support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) senatorial candidate, Funso Ayeni, ahead of the January 2027 National Assembly election in Ekiti North Senatorial District.
Adeboro made the call during a visit to the executive members of the ADC in Ikole-Ekiti, where he urged the party leadership to mobilise residents across the senatorial district to support Ayeni’s ambition, describing him as a credible alternative capable of providing purposeful and people-oriented representation.
The APC chieftain explained that his decision to support Ayeni was driven by his genuine love for his people and the growing demand among residents of Ekiti North for a change in the quality of representation at the National Assembly. He stressed that his intervention was borne out of his desire to see the district experience meaningful development, insisting that the collective interest of the people must take precedence over partisan considerations.
Adeboro assured the ADC executives that Ayeni, if elected, would prioritise the welfare of his constituents, remain accessible to the people and ensure that their interests receive adequate attention at the National Assembly.
He expressed confidence that Ayeni would sponsor people-oriented bills, pursue legislative interventions and attract meaningful federal projects capable of directly improving the living conditions of residents across the district.
He also assured the ADC executives that Ayeni would pay attention to their needs, urging them to intensify grassroots mobilisation and take the campaign message to every ward and community.
Expressing dissatisfaction with what he described as the poor performance of the incumbent senator representing Ekiti North, Senator Cyril Fasuyi of APC, who is seeking re-election, Adeboro said the district could no longer afford inadequate representation.
He maintained that residents were yearning for a new direction, expressing confidence that Ayeni would defeat the incumbent in the January 2027 election.
Adeboro particularly appealed to the people of Ikole-Ekiti to recognise the power of their votes and use the forthcoming election to attract massive development, improve infrastructure, create employment opportunities and secure greater federal presence in their communities. He emphasised that effective representation goes beyond occupying a seat in the Senate, noting that a senator must influence national policies, attract development projects, sponsor impactful bills and consistently defend the interests of constituents.
Despite his decision to support Ayeni’s senatorial ambition, Adeboro was quick to reaffirm his strong membership of the APC and unwavering commitment to the political leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji.
He also declared his continued support for APC candidates contesting other elective positions in Ekiti North, clarifying that his support for Ayeni was informed by his personal conviction about the need for better senatorial representation and development for his people.
He called on political stakeholders, community leaders, youths, women and other residents of Ekiti North to make the forthcoming election a turning point in the political and developmental history of the district. Adeboro reiterated that the people of Ekiti North deserved effective, accessible and accountable representation, stressing that the January 2027 election presented an opportunity to make their votes count for sustainable development.
