Rivers State Government has shut down the operations of Africa Independent Television and RayPower FM in Port Harcourt.
Report from the Media website, states that River State Government did not give notice before it deployed bulldozers to demolish the Transmitter Complex at DAAR Communications PLC Broadcast Centre in Port Harcourt.
“Some officials of the telecommunications contractor told AIT that they were working on a directive from above to start demolition on Sunday despite the heavy rains as against a later date.”
The turn of event may not be unconnected with the land tussle between Rivers Government and media outfit on which AIT/RayPower Radio station built its transmission station .
