The APC Leaders from UyanMerin Quarters have presented Chief Alonge Michael Bidemi as the Councillorship candidate for December, 2023 Local Government Election.
Presenting Chief Alonge Michael to Ilupeju Ward 1 Chairman, Chief Ajayi Johnson and other stakeholders at the party secretariat on Sunday, 10th September, 2023, Mr Johnson Ogunsesin, Chairman screening committee, said UyanMerin Quarters had earlier engaged all the contestants, screened them and unanimously agreed that Chief Alonge Michael should represent the Quarters.
Mr Ogunsesin said” We observed that UyanMerin has not produced Councillor since 1999 which signals the Advent of democratic system of Government in Nigeria and coincidentally favours Councillorship Zoning template of Ilupeju Ward 1 this time ”
In the meeting, it was unanimously agreed that it’s the turn of UyanMerin, the only quarter that hasn’t produce the ward councilor since 1999 in the new democratic setting in Nigeria.
The Ward Chairman, Chief Ajayi Johnson who summoned the meeting had earlier relayed the directives of APC Chairman, Oye Local Government to Ilupeju ward 1 members in attendance.
Chief Ajayi said” Oye Local Government Party Chairman on Thursday, 7th September, 2023 called a meeting of all stakeholders and contestants for the Local Government Election where it was stated that political leaders should unanimously settle for a credible candidate where they are more than one contestants to avoid crisis and unnecessary spending”
Reacting to the exercise, Hon.Yemi Osatuyi, former House of Assembly member, Oye Constituency 2 pleaded for unity among members of the ward while reteirating commitement of the leaders to providing qualitative leadership at all times.
The Ward Chairman and the youth leader, Oniyelu Sina applauded the seamless exercise that produced the Councillorship candidate, while calling on other contestants to work for the victory of the party at the polls.
Attendance at the meeting includes: The Ward Chairman, Chief Ajayi Johnson, Hon. Yemi Osatuyi, Ekiti North Senatorial Chairman, Evangelist Ayo Kolawole, Mr Faremi Adekunle, Ward Secrertary, other ward Executives, Elder Ogundana, former Councillor, Hon.Idowu Ajayi, outgoing Councillor, Hon. Deji Ajayi and 30 members.
