The three Classrooms built by the outgoing executive of the Nigeria Union of Journalists under the leadership of Comrade Rotimi Ojomoyela was on Tuesday commissioned by the Special Adviser to Governor Oyebanji on Media, Mr.Yinka Oyebode.
While commissioning the building, the Media Adviser to the Governor, Yinka Oyebode commended the outgoing administration under the leadership of Comrade Rotimi Ojomoyela, saying he has taken the council to the next level of development despite the paucity of fund in the Union.
The CPS acknowledged the supports of the media to Oyebanji’s administration.“I am extremely honoured that the leadership of NUJ Ekiti State is doing this, I am very proud of them and I feel extremely humbled to have the privilege to do this.
“The Ekiti State Government has benefited from a very remarkable cooperation and support of the journalists working in Ekiti State and therefore helped the government’s development agenda, helped in communicating it to the people because this is a government that governor Oyebanji Abayomi believes in, communication from the government to the people, development with the people and cannot do it without the active support of the media, and journalists in ekiti state support this unconditionally, without any form of conditions and we are happy and grateful to them.”
While advising the incoming executive to wage war against quackery in the profession in order not to tarnish the good image of the council, adding that they should reduce the effects of those who don’t pass through the rudiment of the profession.
While pledging allegiance of the state government to continued partnership with Journalists, he advised the incoming administration, to build on the qualitative leadership of the Rotimi Ojomoyela’s administration.
The outgoing Chairman, Comrade Rotimi Ojomoyela opined that his administration has envisaged to build the facility since he assumed office in 2017 but has been challenging due to paucity of fund but appreciated God for the completion of the classrooms.
The three class rooms were fully ticed which serves as the training centre for the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ).
The International Institute of Journalism (IIJ) is a monotechnic and learning wing of NUJ which is affiliated to the University of Maiduguri, and in relationship with University of Ilorin, Open University, Adekunle Ajasin University, for masters and post graduate.
Also speaking, the former chairman of the Union, Chief Akogun Tai Oguntayo commended the feat of the NUJ saying the development of the Union had further positioned the Union in a better light.
The coordinator of the Ekiti International Institute of Journalism, Dare Daniels further applauded the Union for the edifice while assuring better maintenance
