Two contestants for the throne of Alararomi of Araromi Ekiti have kicked against Ekiti State Government approval of prince Babalola Babatunde Adebomi as the king of Araromi Ekiti in Ijero Local Government.
The duo from Odimulele ruling family, Afolayan Ademola and Babalola Adeniji at a Press conference held at NUJ Press Center on Wednesday, Ado Ekiti, called on Ekiti state Government to rescind the decision of making Prince Babalola the king of Araromi Ekiti.
The duo said the people of Araromi Ekiti are not comfortable with the decision of the governor, thereby urged the governor to rescind the decision for peace to reign .
“We are surprise to hear that Governor Biodun Oyebanji at a state Executive council meeting on Tuesday, approved prince Babalola Adebomi as a king despite his forgery case pending at the Federal High Court, Akure, Ondo State and Federal High Court, Ado Ekiti.
According to the complainants” it’s surprising and disheartening that Ekiti State Government could approve a certificate forger to be Crown the king of Araromi Ekiti. Funny enough, he had used the certificate to work for five years in Ekiti state Teaching Hospital and later absconded.
All the divinations done during the kingship processes were not properly done, it was a scam. All these fraught are challenged at the the Federal High Court, Ado Ekiti.”
You will recall that the Odimulele ruling family had previously protested Babalola’s nomination in April 2024, highlighting that a certificate forgery case filed against him is still pending in Federal High Court.
“We have conducted our investigation and found that he did not attend the University of Ibadan as claimed, and if he ever attended that university, he did not attain that certificate.
“He worked at the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH) as a physiotherapist with a forged certificate. When the authority of the institution found out that he was parading a questionable certificate, he went into hiding only to resurface later.
“We don’t want a king that the police will be pursuing for the forgery of an NYSC certificate.
“The certificate forgery case filed against him is still pending in Federal High Court in Akure. If the government rejects forged certificates in the civil service, why impose such a person as our oba forever?
“We appeal to the government of Ekiti State, through His Excellency, Biodun Oyebanji, to reverse this decision and follow due process.
