The Founder of Ajayi Polytechnic, Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Dr. Busayo Ajayi has charged matriculants to utilize the skills acquisition Programmes of the institution to provide solutions to the multifacet challenges bedeviling Nigeria.
The founder who reiterated that the Polytechnic is not a certificate factory where students get certificates without working for it
Dr. Ajayi disclosed this at the 7th Matriculation Ceremony of 350 students of Ordinary National Diploma and Higher National Diploma of the institution, held at the main campus of the Polytechnic recently in Ikere -Ekiti, Ekiti State.
The founder said” I am excited to welcome you to the great Ajayi Polytechnic, the institution, where we build capacity of students to become giants and solution providers, to the challenges facing the country and by extension, this generation. To our dear parents therefore, you have taken the right decision of allowing your children and wards to enrol in this institution.
All our stakeholders may wish to know that Ajayi Polytechnic currently has all its programmes fully accredited by the National Board for Technical Education.
Today, we will be matriculating about 350 numbers of students. The Lord has been moving us from one level of Glory to another. God is our source and sustenance here at Ajayi Polytechnic and has been gracious to us. We have not been struggling to achieve our goals, because this is God project.
Permit me to state here categorically that, the main essence of polytechnic education, is to promote technical and vocational training and enhance the transfer of technology for the economic development of the country. Ajayi Polytechnic was thus founded, to provide the necessary trainings and appropriate skills that will make an individual to be self-reliant, or be gainfully employed.
We have been providing improvement in technical education, and we are now about to take this to another level. In Ajayi Polytechnic Ikere, we are committed to raising the giant in you, through inclusive entrepreneurship and skill acquisition programmes that will make you a sure employer of Labour, after your graduation from the institution”
The founder added that over one thousand students of the institution had benefitted from the scholarship scheme of the school, while reiterating that the institution placed high premium on qualitative education, morals and discipline. He added that the school fees of the school is affordable with academic friendly environment.
He stressed further that 80% lecture attendance is sacrosant while emphasizing that the school would not in any way condone social maladies. Advised the students to face their studies squarely .
Speaking on the planned protest, the founder
said he could feel the pains, stressing that the protest is not illegal. But appealed that it must be carried out in a peaceful manner and avoid anything that could cause trouble. It must be done in a civilized way.
However, the entrepreneur urged governments at all levels to listen to the people’s demands and see how they can work towards meeting the demands and make life easier for the people. He equally called for review of policies and ensure that the policies bringing in are capable of solving the economic problem of Nigeria.
