The Chairman of Oye Local Government, Hon. Sunday Ajimoko has enjoined the newly elected Supervisors and Advisers to exert their vigour and experience to serve the Local Government with all sincerity.
Hon. Ajimoko gave the advice during the swearing-in ceremony of 4 Supervisors and 5 advisers of the Council held at the Local Government on Tuesday evening.
The Chairman urged them to co-operate with the executive arm of the Local Government for optimal performance. ” I have no doubt about their integrity. I also feel assured of their collective and individual support for this administration. I know that they will be assets to the Local Government as we forge ahead in our commitment to better the lots of the people of Oye Local Government, their impacts will be felt ”
While reiterating the importance of their inclusion into the executive arm of the Council, Ajimoko said” The reconstruction of the councillors into the legislative Arm of government and the Supervisors/ advisers vesting executive powers in the Chairman is to bring the presidential system to the grassroots and allow accountability”
He added that the composition would encourage effective representation and allow checks and balances which was needed for the growth of democracy. Hon. Ajimoko appreciated governor Kayode Fayemi for allowing true democracy to thrive in Ekiti State despite meagre resources.
Also, The Executive Chairman of Ifeloju LCDA, Comrade Babatunde Ogunmilugba advised the supervisors and advisers to make their impacts felt, saying they should be more closer to the people. He added that they should build on the legacies of their predecessors for their names to be written in the minds of their communities.
The supervisors were: Mrs Mary Popoola, Oye 2, Ogunsina Olorunfemi, Oloje ward, Ogunyemi Abiodun David, Ilupeju 1, and Ogunlade Babatunde Olusola, Ire 2.
Advisers were: Omotayo Sunday , Oye 1, Iyiola Ogundare, Isan/Ilafon/Ilemesho, Mrs Bukola Awobusuyi, Omu/Ijelu, Dele Ojo , Ire 1, and Akilo Sesan, Ayegbaju.
Responding, Ogunsina Olorunfemi and Ogunyemi Abiodun thanked the party leaders for finding them worthy to contribute to the development and spread of the party in Oye Local Government. The duo promised to help spread dividends of democracy to the people of their various local governments.
Recall that September last year, Ifeloju Local Council Development Area, Ilupeju Ekiti and Ifesowapo LCDA were created from Oye Local Government.
