A ray of hope has emerged for members of the Al-Nur Islamic Organisation in Ede, the less privileged and other vulnerable members of the society as the group reaffirmed its commitment to the commandments of Allah through charity.
The annual Zakat and Sadaqat empowerment programme of the Al-Nur Islamic Organisation, Ede once again brought relief and renewed hope to less-privileged members of the community.
At the event, over six million naira in cash and food items were distributed to beneficiaries, particularly widows and orphans, as part of the organisation’s efforts to support vulnerable people and reduce the hardship faced by many households.
Speaking during the distribution, the Ameer of the organisation, Engineer Bashir Akande, said the group remains committed to empowering the less privileged through the consistent payment and distribution of Zakat and Sadaqat.
He noted that giving Zakat and Sadaqat is an obligation for every faithful Muslim, adding that the blessings attached to acts of charity are immeasurable.
Engineer Akande explained that the initiative is designed to improve the welfare of widows, orphans and other vulnerable members of society, while also encouraging well-to-do Muslims to fulfil their religious obligations by supporting the needy.
Delivering a lecture at the programme, a psychiatrist at the Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, Dr. Kazeem Adebayo, spoke on mental health and highlighted practical steps individuals can take to maintain sound mental and brain health.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Ede Muslim Council, Dr. Mushibaudeen Idris, urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the support provided in order to improve their living conditions.
He also called on Muslims and wealthy individuals in society to emulate the gesture of the Al-Nur Islamic Organisation by extending support to the poor and vulnerable.
The annual programme, which has become a major humanitarian activity of the organisation aimed at reducing poverty and strengthening communal support, also provided an opportunity for serving corps members in Ede North and Ede South Local Government Areas, as well as representatives of orphanages, to receive food items.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the organisation for the gesture and prayed that God would continue to bless and prosper members of the Al-Nur Islamic Organisation.”
