Ekiti State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Erelu Tosin Aluko Ajisafe, has read riot act to residents of the state to stop assaulting or obstructing Environmental Health Officers on duty, saying, whoever is caught would be made to face the full weight of the law
Erelu Ajisafe gave the stern warning following the attack melted on Environmental Health Officers during a sanitary inspection at Igbayilola area, Ado Ekiti recently, reiterated the importance of the EHOs in ensuring clean environment for good leaving.
According to a statement from the ministry,” Erelu Ajisafe condemned the attack on Environmental Health Officers (EHOs) who were carrying out their duties around Igbayilola to ensure compliance with environmental health regulations, leading to a tense and potentially dangerous situation. “It is unacceptable for any individual or group to interfere with or obstruct our officers in the line of duty. These officers are working to ensure a clean and healthy environment for all residents.
We will not tolerate any form of violence or intimidation against our officers. Appropriate legal actions have been taken to address this misconduct and to deter future occurrences,” Aluko Ajisafe stated.
Also, the commissioner highlighted the need for greater community awareness and cooperation with environmental health initiatives. “A safe and clean environment is a collective responsibility. I urge all residents to support the efforts of our EHOs and to report any incidents of non-compliance they observe,” she added.
