The member of the House of Representatives for Ekiti South II Federal Constituency and BAO Movement Patron, Hon. Femi Bamisile has predicted a landslide victory for Governor Biodun Oyebanji in the 2026 Ekiti State gubernatorial election.
Speaking at the meeting with the State Executives and Local Government Coordinators of BAO Movement, a political support group in Ekiti State, the reps member hailed Oyebanji’s impactful leadership in the state.
Bamisile, who was recently named Patron of BAO Movement emphasized that his nomination as Patron of the movement came at an unexpected time saying that he is elated to identify with anything that is related with Oyebanji.
He said: “The phone call came not as a surprise to me, but it came at a time unexpected. In all fairness, I am elated with anything that has to do with our performing governor. I have always been a part of it. I will continue to support in anything that he does. I thank God for being one of those counted worthy to be a patron of such an auspicious group.
“A group that started even before when the governor became a candidate of the party, which means they saw something in him that a whole of people in the state didn’t see. That has translated to goodness, greatness which everybody is part of now.
“I wasn’t surprised with the crop of people that I met; state executive members and local government coordinators. These are people with vast political experience and they have shown that at the meeting we had. This team has what it takes to lead in the second elections.”
Bamisile posited that Governor Oyebanji is poised to run unopposed leading to the state primaries of the All Progressives Congress noting that the governor’s giant strides in developing the state has ranked him above any form of opposition, including other parties.
“He is a fantastic governor who has done wonderful things in the State; infrastructures, education, pensioners and the way he even relates with us in the National Assembly is one of a kind. We can’t ask for anything better but to allow a seasoned man to run his eight years in government and we will able to learn all that he has dispensed to the state.
“I say it without any equivocation, this is six months to the primaries and it will come not later than November or December. I have aspired for this same seat before and we start two years to election but this is six months to primaries, nobody has come out and nobody is coming out.
“For the first time in politics in Nigeria and the state, this will be the first time you have a governor contesting for an election in his own political party that he will not have an opposition. Even outside of his political party, if anybody is contesting, he will just be going there to bear a name that I ran election. BAO will win in 177 wards in the state and it has never been done before, he will do it.”
On his part, Hon. Boluwade Kehinde, State Coordinator of BAO Movement said that the meeting with the Reps Member is aimed at discussing strategies to strengthen the activities of the group ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial elections.
He disclosed that plans have been mapped out by the movement ahead of the APC primaries and elections to re-elect Governor Oyebanji for second term.
