The management of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology (BOUESTI) has issued a disclaimer alerting the public to a fraudulent email address falsely linked to its Vice-Chancellor, Andrew Babatunde Omojola.
In a statement released on Friday ,the institution disclosed that an unscrupulous individual created a fake email account — domain.ng.co.com@gmail.com — in the name of the Vice-Chancellor with the intent to defraud unsuspecting individuals and organisations. The university categorically denied any connection with the email address, stressing that it does not belong to the Vice-Chancellor or represent the institution in any capacity.
BOUESTI warned members of the university community, organisations, and the general public to disregard any messages or requests originating from the fraudulent email or any other unofficial source claiming to act on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor.
The management clarified that all official communications from the Office of the Vice-Chancellor and the university are transmitted strictly through recognised institutional channels and verified email addresses. It further advised anyone who receives suspicious messages purportedly from the Vice-Chancellor to verify such communications through the university’s official platforms before taking any action.
According to the statement, the institution has reported the matter to relevant security agencies for investigation and necessary action.
The university also called for vigilance and cooperation from the public to help curb fraudulent activities carried out in its name.
