Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has transmitted a list of nominees to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation as Commissioners, marking a major step toward the reconstitution of his cabinet.
In a statement by Olayinka Oyebode
chief press secretary to the Ekiti State Governor said the list comprises former members of the State Executive Council dissolved by the Governor on August 10, 2025.
According to party sources, the decision to re-present the former commissioners was jointly reached by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State and other critical stakeholders, who strongly advised the Governor to retain the team in the interest of party cohesion and stability.
Party leaders stressed that introducing an entirely new team barely seven months to the June 20, 2026 governorship election could be counter-productive. Retaining the existing commissioners, they argued, would ensure unity, continuity, and optimal performance as the party prepares for the crucial election.
It will be recalled that in 2023, the selection, screening, and appointment of commissioners and other government appointees were products of a collaborative effort involving the party leadership, traditional institutions across various towns and communities, and other key stakeholders, working alongside the Governor’s screening committee.
From the beginning of his administration, Governor Oyebanji had emphasized that the APC and leaders of communities across the state would play strategic roles in the appointment process to ensure accountability, transparency, and alignment with the will of the people
