Nigerians have been admonished to place their absolute trust in God rather than men, as doing otherwise could limit divine intervention and hinder destiny fulfilment.
This admonition was given by the Founder of Holy Trinity Authority Prophetic Church, Ado-Ekiti, Prophet James Omitade, during a special thanksgiving service held in his church to mark the 2025 Press Week of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council.
Preaching from Jeremiah 17:5, Prophet Omitade warned that depending on human beings for assistance often leads to disappointment, bondage, or unfulfilled expectations. According to him, “Any help that comes from man is usually conditional, but help from God is pure, lasting, and without sorrow. When you depend on politicians, wealthy relations or influential figures instead of God, you are unconsciously limiting your greatness.”
He explained that many people unknowingly hinder God’s plans for their lives by idolizing their supposed human helpers. “Man cannot be equated with God,” he stressed. “Only God gives help without attaching strings. You were created to manifest God’s glory and remain relevant in society. When you shift your focus to man, you delay your own divine elevation—unless God Himself directs that person to help you.”
Prophet Omitade urged Nigerians to change their mindset towards seeking help, adding that looking up to Christ brings lasting solutions. He also advised the congregation not to harbor grudges or bitterness against those who refuse to help them, saying, “Forgive and let go. When you release people from your heart, God will lift your burdens and take you to greater heights.”
The service, attended by journalists across various media houses in Ekiti State, was filled with praises, thanksgiving, and testimonies of divine protection in the course of duty.
Speaking on behalf of the union, the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi, expressed profound gratitude to God for sustaining the council since he assumed office two years ago. He described the union’s achievements under his leadership as “products of divine grace and direction.”
Babatuyi also commended Prophet Omitade for his consistent spiritual and moral support to journalists in the state, noting that he remains one of the few clerics who genuinely care about the media profession.
“Prophet Omitade is a true servant of God who gives selflessly to uplift others. His love for journalists is unwavering, and we are proud to call him a friend of the media,” he said. “We pray that God will strengthen him and anoint him afresh for greater exploits in His vineyard.”
The thanksgiving service featured soul-lifting songs, prayers for journalists, and intercessions for peace and progress in Ekiti State and Nigeria as a whole.
The event was part of activities lined up for the 2025 NUJ Ekiti Press Week.
