Comrade Usman Umar Barambu has been declared winner of the just concluded National Association Of Nigeria Students(NANS) Election at the NANS convention in Abuja on 3rd September, 2022.
Umar, a student of Economics and Development Studies, Federal University, Dutse, Jigawa State defeated other contestants
Umar will succeed the outgoing NANS President, Asefon Sunday Dayo, from Ekiti State.
Meanwhile, the election of the students body was greeted with crisis as the Association split into two. Umar Barambu who eventually won the election was alleged to be sponsored by government while Umar Farouk Lawal , a student of Bayero University, Kano was said to be the preferred candidate of the students.
Angered by the interference of government in the NANS election made the delegates also declared Umar Farouk President-elect.
