Justice JBK Aladejana of Ekiti State High Court 3 in a Judgment delivered on Monday, 10th June, 2024, awarded the sum of five million naira (#5M) as damages against the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) and Omotuase jointly in favour of an Ekiti based Legal Practitioner Mr. Samson Ayodeji Aina.
The Legal Practitioner had approached the court in suit number HAD/07EFRM/2023 through his lawyers led by Temitope Kolawole, Esq. and was awarded the sum of five million naira (#5M) as damages and compensation for the violation of his fundamental rights.
Equally, Justice Aladejana awarded the sum of One hundred thousand naira (#100,000) as cost of litigation and ordered the NSCDC to tender a public apology to Samson Ayodeji Aina which must be published in two (2) widely read National Newspapers in Nigeria.
The Respondents spoke through their counsel, Adebanjo Seun Abiodun and Professor Olufemi Abifarin.
Delivering Judgment on the suit filed against the Civil Defence, Justice JBK Aladejana, further held that the applicant is, except as restricted by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, entitled to right to dignity of human person as enshrined in section 34 (1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic (as amended).
