Commemorating the 2025 Democracy Day celebration, the Chairman of Moba Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Hon. Bamidele Fadugba, has congratulated the good people of Moba, the entire Ekiti residents, and Nigerians on the occasion of June 12, a day known in the nation’s political history as a symbol of democracy.
Hon. Fadugba described June 12 as a turning point in Nigeria’s democratic journey, paying glowing tribute to the heroes of democracy, particularly the late Chief MKO Abiola, whose sacrifice laid the foundation for the democratic freedoms being enjoyed today. He emphasized that Democracy Day is not just a public holiday, but a reminder of the power of the people’s voice and the importance of safeguarding democratic ideals at all levels of governance.
“Today, we reflect on the struggles and victories of our democratic evolution. June 12 represents the collective voice of Nigerians and serves as a beacon of hope and justice for generations to come. It is a day to reaffirm our commitment to good governance, transparency, and inclusive leadership,” Hon. Fadugba said.
He used the occasion to commend the giant strides of the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, for his transformative governance and people-oriented policies that are fast reshaping the socio-economic landscape of the state. According to him, Gov. Oyebanji has demonstrated exemplary leadership rooted in accountability, grassroots development, and inclusive growth.
Hon. Fadugba also lauded the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the federal level for its commitment to strengthening democratic institutions, improving infrastructure, and fostering national unity amidst challenges.
Reiterating his dedication to service, the Moba Council boss promised to continue working with zeal and vigor to uplift the standard of living of the people of Moba Local Government. He highlighted his administration’s focus on improving basic amenities, youth empowerment, agriculture, health, and education.
“As we celebrate democracy Day today, I assure the good people of Moba that our administration will not relent in delivering the dividends of democracy. Our commitment is unwavering, and together, we will build a more prosperous, peaceful, and inclusive Moba,” he concluded.
The Chairman urged all citizens to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and actively work for the re-election of Governor Biodun Oyebanji to consolidate on his numerous achievements, saying with Oyebanji, Ekiti is in safe hands
