On 15th November 2025, former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Peter Fayose, celebrated his 65th birthday in grand style, an event that attracted dignitaries from all walks of life. The celebration witnessed the presence of eminent Nigerians—including Vice President Kashim Shettima who represented president Tinubu, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, as well as several serving and former governors, senators, ministers, House of Representatives members, Assembly members, council chairmen, captains of industry, and ordinary Nigerians. Many poured encomiums on Fayose for his fearlessness, integrity, grassroots appeal, good governance, and his consistent courage in speaking truth to power.
Over the years, Fayose has undeniably carved a prominent place for himself in Nigerian politics. He has written his name in the hearts of the masses for always identifying with common Nigerians—advocating for their needs, defending their interests, and bringing governance closer to them.
However, amidst the accolades, tributes, and celebrations, a significant voice emerged—one that struck a deeper chord. His younger brother, Isaac Fayose, released a viral video that has sparked conversations nationwide. While congratulating his elder brother on his 65th birthday, Isaac offered a candid, heartfelt, and brutally honest counsel—one he believed was necessary as Fayose advances in age.
In the video, Isaac prayed for God’s blessings upon the new age of his brother but emphasized that the time has come for Ayodele Fayose to confront his shortcomings, particularly those relating to relationships, loyalty, and gratitude. He openly stated that the “spirit of selfishness” must depart from Fayose’s life, urging him to become a better man and “turn a new leaf.”
Isaac accused his elder brother of betraying individuals who stood by him during critical moments—citing examples such as their late sister Bimpe Soreolu, who reportedly sold her land in Lagos for ₦3 million to help him purchase the PDP nomination form; loyal PDP members who supported him unwaveringly; the late Buruji Kashamu, who allegedly gave him close to ₦2 billion; their siblings and mother; as well as billionaire businessman Arthur Eze, who he claimed gave Fayose $3 million. According to Isaac, these sacrifices and gestures have not always been acknowledged or reciprocated.
He further stressed that life is not about staying relevant at all times, warning that pride and the constant pursuit of political dominance can isolate a man from those who truly matter. He described selfishness as a sin and urged his brother to seek reconciliation, make amends, and offer atonement to people whose paths he had crossed adversely over the years.
Perhaps the most poignant part of Isaac’s message was his revelation that none of Fayose’s siblings—including their mother—were invited to the 65th birthday celebration, a development he considered deeply troubling .
In all, Isaac Fayose’s message was not one of condemnation but of brotherly correction, urging the celebrant to embrace humility, repair strained relationships, and move into the next phase of life with a renewed spirit. As Ayodele Fayose continues to enjoy the goodwill of Nigerians, his brother’s advice stands as a powerful reminder that true legacy is built not only on political achievements but also on the strength of personal relationships, gratitude, and reconciliation.
