An All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives’ aspirant in Ekiti State, Dr Yemi Olayinka has felicitated Christians in the state on the ongoing Easter celebrations, urging faithful to imbibe the lesson enshrined in the season.
Olayinka is aspiring to represent the people of Ado-Ekiti/Irepodun/Ifelodun Federal Constituency at the Green Chambers of the National Assembly in the 2027 general elections
Easter celebration symbolises the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The Ekiti Central Federal Constituency 1 hopeful encouraged the people to be fully involved in the present development, not only in the state, but also at the federal level by getting their Permanent Voters Card towards the forthcoming general elections.
He added that the people should support the administration of Gov. Biodun Oyebanji with his developmental agenda for the state and have confidence in a new Nigeria as being currently champion by President Bola Tinubu.
He appealed for understanding among all religious sects to live in peace and harmony to ensure the overall developments of the Federal Constituency, the state and the country at large.
In an Easter message personally signed by Olayinka on Friday to celebrate with the people of his federal constituency and state in general, appealed for understanding to ensure that the lessons of the season become part of their daily living.
He said: “This is a sacred moment in the life of Christians, a period of remembrance of uncommon love displayed by their master, Jesus Christ, who laid down His life for the remission of their sins. Before His crucifixion on the Cross, the totality of all His earthly activities was centred on love for God and fellow beings.
“It is this love for all that I now beseech all to show to one another. As a country, we need it to engender growth and development. Let our leaders show love to the citizens by ensuring that whatever policy they make is well thought out to be harmless or not injurious to the well-being of the people.
“The citizens, on the other hand, owe it a duty to obey the leaders, show understanding and pray for them to do well in office.”
He charged Christians to relate with one another without any form of discrimination, just like Jesus Christ was doing during His earthly ministry up to the point of His death on the cross, when he still prayed for His adversaries.
He said, “If we love one another genuinely without any form of barrier or sentiment, there would be less tension in our environment. This is what the Lord Jesus Christ is expecting from true believers.”
Dr Olayinka prayed that God would free the nation from the challenges of insecurity and other vices bedeviling it presently.
