The Federal Road Safety Corps has put in place several measures to reduce road casualties during Eid- El- Kabir celebration.
Speaking with journalists in Ado Ekiti, Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed said over 200 mobile courts across Nigeria have been put in place to try and prosecute motorists that violate road rules during the festive period.
According to the sector command,
“As from 14 June, we shall carryout aggressive enforcement including conducting over 200 Mobile Courts operations, with the aim of checking the following of fences;
Speeding and Dangerous Driving/Overtaking, lane indiscipline/Route violation, Road Obstructions,
Use of Phone while Driving Overloading.Seatbelt/Child restraint Use Violations, Passenger’s Manifest ,Operation of mechanical deficient and rickety vehicles.
Loading of trailers with Passengers and Illegal use of the Spy Number Plates”
Explaining how to effectively carry out the exercise, the Corps Marshal said” To achieve this, over 743 patrol vehicles,184 administrative vehicles, 92 ambulances, 23 trucks and 144 motorbikes are being deployed as part of the partner logistics.
Furthermore, reflect jackets, traffic cones, tyre pressure gauges, a number of extricating machines and digital breathalyzers are part of the tools set aside for the special operations.

Adding that a situation room has been situated at the National Headquarters, Abuja to monitor activities across the country to collate and procees information with 28 road traffic Crash clinics and 53 zebra points located along major roads with 92 ambulances.
