A leading Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Mrs Ogun Funmilayo Theresa will pick the PDP’s nomination form on Thursday, September 18, 2025, to contest the party’s primary.
The ceremony, according to a statement by her Special Adviser on Media, Oladimeji Olayinka, will hold at the party’s headquarters in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
The former Commissioner for Works assured her supporters that she was upbeat of clinching the ticket on account of her robust relationship with the PDP top hierarchies and those at the grassroots based on her years of service to the party.
The ex-PDP State Secretary added that she was in the race to make a remarkable difference and not as a mole or as a candidate that want to use the platform to negotiate, or a person looking for undue attention or fame.
Funmi Ogun stated that time is ripe for the PDP to wrestle power from the ruling All Progressives Congress, and this she boasted was achievable, because of solid presence of the party across the units, wards and local governments.
“We are in this race to make a difference, not as a mole or planning to use the platf to negotiate or seeking attention at all, I mean business. And the difference we intend to make is to reclaim our dear state and make it to be better than the old good days by providing good and transparent governance.
“We are confident of winning the primary on the pedestal of our goodwill. The goodwill of consistency with the party. The goodwill of fair and enigmatic representation and the goodwill of magnetic connect with our people will speak audibly and loudly for us in this race.
“Since I joined politics, I have been consistent in my political ideology with the PDP. I have always been steadfast in my commitment to help the party win elections. So, this is the opportunity for me to showcase my capacity for the good of all of us.
“I want to assure our teeming party supporters to have unflinching faith in my ability to do it. PDP is a party with strong antecedents and rich history of good performance and delivery. Our political records are there.
“With all hands on the deck, we shall accomplish our mission, which is to secure the PDP governorship ticket and win so resoundingly, the June 20, 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State”, Funmi Ogun said.
