As political activities gather momentum in preparation for 2026 election , the former Commissioner for works in Ekiti state and chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Hon ( Mrs) Ogun Funmilayo Theresa (OFT) has said she remained focused to win the primary election of her party and win the 2026 governorship election, saying PDP remained the party for the masses.
Hon Ogun stressed that her victory cannot be threatened by either the coalition of ADC or APC. The PDP chieftain disclosed this at the ‘welcome back home reception’ organised by her political admirers across the sixteen local governments in her office in Ajilosun , Ado Ekiti on Tuesday.
Hon Ogun said PDP in Ekiti state will not join African Democratic Congress(ADC) coalition before sending Governor Oyebanji packing, she stated that PDP in the state had commenced reconciliation and consultation to put behind them all challenges facing the party, adding that three months to the primary election, no new party can win the governorship election except PDP who’s peoples party .
Hon Ogun enjoined members of PDP to remain resolute, steadfast and work assiduously for the victory of the party in 2026 election, reiterating that the masses could differentiate the party that loves Ekiti residents between PDP and APC.
She added that PDP government is always centered on the masses, with human face unlike the present government that’s built on deceit and propaganda. She promised to embark on local government tour in no distant time to have an interface with PDP members at the grassroots.
She urged her members not to be discouraged by the antecedents of their leaders who used them in the past for their selfish interests, assuring them that she would always carry them along and give what is due to them on time. According to Hon Ogun, “the era of OGA said’ has gone, we are now our own ‘ogas,; we are together, we understand ourselves and I will not short-change you for any reason. Enough of slavery, freedom has returned to PDP and all of us will enjoy the freedom, because those that are causing commotion have pitched their tents with ADC and APC for immediate benefits ”
Hon Ogun appreciated the organisers of the reception, ” I am happy for the deep thought , dedication and love that they displayed despite the fact that I have not seen them for a year and they could organise this. I thank them, they are grassroot politicians whom I ‘m going to work with, God bless you all’
Commending her leadership style and dedication to Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti state, the PDP Chairman in Ado Local Government , Hon Femi Adeyemi said Hon Ogun remained the unifying figure in PDP, adding that immediately after 2022 election when PDP lost to Mr Oyebanji, Hon Ogun toured the sixteen local governments and ensured the party didnot die. She remained our rallying point who always give us hope, she spent her resources to keep PDP flag flying; Thank God the flag is still flying, the chairman said.
Also, other leaders from all the senatorial Districts praised Hon Ogun for keeping PDP alive in Ekiti , they all assured her of their support to make her vision of becoming governor of Ekiti state in 2026 come true.
Representatives from the three senatorial Districts and party leaders, including former chairmen in Ado Local Government, women and youth leaders were well represented at the welcome back home reception.
