Over one thousand members of the Association of Professional Wedding Engagement Coordinators of Nigeria (APWECON) and Association of Professional Traditional Wedding Engagement Coordinators of Nigeria (APTWECON) known as ‘Alaga Ijoko/Iduro,’ Ekiti State Chapter stormed the streets of Ado-Ekiti on Thursday to endorse Governor Biodun Oyebanji for second term under the umbrella of ‘Alaga Ni Mi’ for BAO.
The special endorsement walk/rally for Governor Oyebanji was part of activities marking their 2025 Association Day Celebration which had in attendance members drawn from the 16 local government areas in the state.
The event which began with a solidarity walk across the streets of Ado-Ekiti, saw the members marched to the palace of Ewi of Ado-Ekiti to the Governor’s Office and subsequently to the office of the Ekiti State First Lady with banners, chants, and vibrant cultural expressions declaring their support for the governor’s re-election.
Receiving the APWECON/APTWECON members in her office, Ekiti State First Lady, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji commended the association for their show of unflinching support for Governor Oyebanji’s second term bid.
The First Lady urged them to ensure their voters cards are ready ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election while calling on those that lost their permanent voters card to resolve their concerns with INEC to enable them exercise their rights when it’s time.
In the same vein, Director General, Bureau of Community Communications, Mary Omotosho, who joined the association in marking their day reiterated the efforts of the state government in ensuring that developments get to every corner of the state.
Omotosho noted that the government of Oyebanji is gender-friendly and committed to the yearnings of women in the state through impactful leadership while reassuring them of the state government’s all-inclusive governance.
The APWECON Governor, Alhaja Taibat Akanbi in an interview said the event was a welcome initiative to declare their unalloyed support for the re-election of Governor Oyebanji aimed at ensuring continuity of his developmental strides.
Her words: “The governor is performing well and that is why we gathered ourselves to endorse him for second term. When you move around the state, you will see massive roads infrastructures, job creation, prompt payments of salaries and pensions, among many others.”
Her counterpart from the Association of Professional Traditional Wedding Engagement Coordinators of Nigeria (APTWECON), Temitope Adeshina said: “The endorsement for Governor Oyebanji is for his re-election because of the great achievements we are witnessing in Ekiti State. We came together as a formidable team to declare our support for his re-election.”
