Ekiti state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice , Mr Dayo Apata (SAN) has promised to collaborate with officials of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) to curb incessant human trafficking in the State.
The Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Mr.Sunday Bamise who represented the AG&CJ dropped the hint during the courtesy visit of NAPTIP officials in his office in Ado Ekiti.
Mr. Bamise re-affirmed the commitment of the Ministry of Justice in securing office accommodation for NAPTIP official in the State, provision of Vehicle to convey Victims as well as logistics to run errands.
Earlier, the State Commander, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons in Ekiti, Mr Oladimeji Ademola had eulogized the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Dayo Apata SAN for his show of love and provision of needed materials for the smooth operation of NAPTIP activities in the State.
Mr.Ademola who noted that the group was in Ekiti to collect data and carry out awareness campaigns in Schools, Churches, Mosques, Markets etc in order to sensitize the people on how to curb incessant human trafficking said the menace was now rampant in the rural areas.
The State Commander who noted that an Agency could not curb the trafficking alone, said NAPTIP has collaborated with United Nations Office of Drug and Crime (UNODC) and other relevant Agencies to stop the menace in Nigeria.
The representative from the office of Bureau of Statistics, Abuja, Mr Tayo David who is in Ekiti State to supervise NAPTIP office for three days program on data collection for the UNODC to come up with Nigeria report on TIP commended the resilience of the people at the local government visited for their cooperation and support in ensuring that the program went well in Ekiti State.
