The Ekiti State Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon Gold Adesola Adedayo, has congratulated youth Muslims and Christians across the state on the commencement of the 2026 editions of the Ramadan fast and Lenten period .
Adedayo said witnessing a synchronized Ramadan fasting and Lenten period has a strong spiritual implications and taught a lesson that all human beings served only one God, which ordinarily should halt citizens’ descent to religious extremism and intolerance.
In a statement released in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, Adedayo urged the youth to use the period to intercede for the country and pray for radical economic recovery and prosperity that will benefit the populace.
Essentially, Adedayo urged the youth to pray for Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s resounding victory in the June 20, 2026 governorship election and to spiritually intercede for the electoral process to be devoid of violence and bloodshed.
Adedayo stated that this period of piety, honesty, sacrifice and holiness offered propitious space for youth to offer prayer supplications for the nation to recover from the menace of insecurity that is spreading across the zones like a bush fire in the harmattan.
The commissioner appealed to the youth to allow the lessons of Ramadan and Lenten seasons to reflect in their lives, describing this as the best way themselves and the nation can benefit from the annual rituals.
He said the holy and spiritual seasons were a creation of the holy Prophets Mohammed and Jesus Christ to build the puritanism and spiritual consciousness of all human beings, so that they can live together peacefully and serve God zealously without inhibition.
“I congratulate Ekiti Muslim and Christian youth on the occasion of Ramadan and Lenten seasons. This period is a time of holiness and season of personal spiritual reorientation, so that we can serve God and embrace the tenets of holiness in our daily lives.
“This period provides the best opportunity for us to reflect on our personal lives and our nation. We must intercede on behalf of our nation at this critical time when the country is under the heavy burden of insecurity and economic hardship for quick delivery.
“As we participate in this spiritual programmes , which are commandments of God, we must allow the spirit of sacrifice, honesty, tolerance and oneness continue to ring in our consciousness, so that we can collectively savour the gains after the expiration of the holy seasons”.
