The wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, has commended a mini truck driver, Mr. Adeleye Adeyemi Adeniyi, for purchasing and branding a space bus in support of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s re-election bid.
Dr. Oyebanji gave the commendation on Wednesday while receiving Adeniyi at her office, describing his action as a rare display of patriotism and responsible citizenship. She noted that although Adeniyi is neither a politician nor a government appointee, he went as far as securing an online loan to finance the branding of the vehicle in appreciation of what she described as the governor’s impactful leadership in Ekiti State.

According to the First Lady, the gesture was not only commendable but worthy of emulation.“When I saw the post online and the level of abuse in the comment section, I became concerned about our political culture. My brother, I appreciate you; you have not done this in vain. The governor, who is passionate about the growth and development of Ekiti residents and the state, also appreciates you,” she said.
She added that Adeniyi’s courage to publicly promote the governor was a testament to the ongoing transformation in the state, disclosing that she had directed that Adeniyi work with the Director-General, Community Communications, to further project the achievements of the administration.
Earlier, the Director-General, Community Communications, Mrs. Mary Omotoso Osho, also applauded Adeniyi’s initiative, lamenting the negative reactions that trailed the development online. She said the criticisms underscored the need for political reorientation, stressing that the young man deserved commendation rather than condemnation for supporting good governance.
Meanwhile, five local government chairmen who were on a courtesy visit to the First Lady joined in celebrating Adeniyi.
The chairmen included Engr. Toyin Ojo, Chairman, Ado Central and his wife, Hon. Tokunbo Gbadamosi, Chairman, Ado North; Hon. Bukola Olowolaju, Chairman, Igbara/Ogotun LCDA; Hon. Modupe Bakare, Chairman, Irewolede LCDA; and Hon. Mosun Adeyemo, Chairman, Ikole West LCDA and the Special Adviser to the Wife of the Governor, Hon. Toyin Adepoju.
The council chairmen described Adeniyi’s action as a morale booster that had further eased efforts to promote the administration’s achievements across their respective councils.
Speaking at the event, Adeniyi said the governor’s strides across key sectors motivated him to purchase and brand the space bus. He cited ongoing road infrastructure upgrades, investments in rural development, recruitment of teachers and health workers, youth empowerment programmes, and support for small and medium-scale enterprises as reasons for his support.
According to him, the administration’s focus on security, agriculture, and community development convinced him that the governor deserved another term.
“I would have done more, but I was constrained by finance,” he said, reaffirming his commitment to continue mobilising support for the governor’s re-election.
