Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, has reiterated the Ekiti State Government’s unwavering commitment to strengthen healthcare delivery through the ongoing renovation of all State Primary Health Care (SPHC) centres across the state.
Dr Oyebanji made this known in her office in Ado Ekiti while receiving an Abuja-based non-governmental organisation, TOS Foundation Africa, on an advocacy visit.
She noted that improving access to quality healthcare remains a cardinal objective of the present administration, adding that the commitment is evident in the scale of interventions across public health facilities from the primary to tertiary levels.
According to her, the foundation’s initiative to equip selected primary healthcare centres aligns with and complements the efforts of Governor Oyebanji’s administration to ensure that health institutions across the state function effectively and efficiently.
“The present administration places high premium on the wellbeing of our people. The ongoing renovation and upgrading of our health facilities are clear demonstrations of this resolve”. She said.
Earlier in n his welcome remark, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Oyebanji Filani, stated that the state government has made substantial investments in public medical institutions to guarantee residents access to quality healthcare services.
He described TOS Foundation’s decision to include Ekiti among beneficiary states in the South-West as commendable, noting that the partnership would further strengthen the state’s healthcare system.
“The government is excited about TOS Foundation for considering Ekiti as one of the beneficiaries in the South-West geopolitical zone. We have spared no effort in ensuring that our people have access to quality healthcare and improved welfare packages”. He said.
Earlier, the Team Lead of TOS Foundation Africa, Mr Ahmed Adejare, disclosed that the organisation plans to equip three major primary healthcare centres in the state as part of efforts to improve maternal health outcomes.
Adejare explained that the project, which will cover the three senatorial districts, will involve auditing primary healthcare facilities to identify gaps, document deficiencies and recommend areas for policy intervention.
He added that the intervention is expected to positively impact women and girls, reduce the workload on secondary and tertiary health institutions, and help curb preventable morbidity among expectant mothers and children.
The partnership, stakeholders say, signals renewed momentum in Ekiti’s drive toward accessible, affordable and quality healthcare for all residents.
