The Ekiti State Government has placed a ban on graduation ceremonies for pupils in kindergarten, nursery, primary, and secondary classes across both public and private schools in the state.
According to a circular issued by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. Mike Omolayo, the directive will take effect from the 2025/2026 academic session.
The government explained that the measure is part of efforts to streamline academic activities and discourage frivolous spending on ceremonies that are not tied to terminal classes.
Also the state government has reemphasized that primary school text books are reviewed once in six years and Senior Secondary school books have been changed from once in three years to four years.
