An egalitarian society can be achieved when spirited non governmental organisations complement government to meet the essential needs of the less privileged.
The lions club in Ekiti boasted of being pillar of support to the masses via its humanitarian services across the globe, the club made this known on Tuesday during its courtesy visit to the Executives of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ekiti state council.
The Region 11 Chairperson, Lion OluKayode Ige (PMJF, NLCF) sought for mutual working relationship with Ekiti journalists, reiterated the importance of journalists in the society. He stressed that the club is known for putting smiles on the faces of the less privileged, called on journalists to partner the club
Highlighting part of its programmes for 2025 ,2026, Lion Ige said thanksgiving will be held on 20th July at Emmanuel Anglican Cathedral , Okesa , Ado Ekiti and Jumat service on 25th July at Ansa-Ud-deen Central Mosque, Odo-otu ATIKANKAN, Ado Ekiti.
Responding, the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi, applauded the leadership roles of the club in Ekiti state and beyond, saying NUJ would partner them . The chairman highlighted that the club had provided free eye glasses and conducted free medical test for Ekiti journalists among its numerous humanitarian services.
The high point of the visit was the decoration of the NUJ Chairman by the lions club leaders.
