The Ekiti State council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has commiserated with the State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji and the State chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on the death of its chairman, Barr. Paul Omotoso who passed on Tuesday night.
The Chairman of the Union, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi, in a statement State council’s secretary, O’Seun Ogunsakin, described Omotoso’s death as shocking and unfortunate; noting that the deceased was reportedly hale and hearty before the sudden news of his death was broken.
Babatuyi said the late Omotoso had very robust working relationship with the media while he served as the State Special Adviser on Legal Matters, Commissioner for Environment and Commissioner for Special Duties.
He described the late party chairman as an easygoing gentleman, loyal party leader and a friend of the media.
The NUJ chairman who empathized with Governor Oyebanji said it was clear that the departure of Omotoso is a major loss not only to the party but also to the Governor who has consistently described the deceased as a loyal and dedicated party man.
While commiserating with the State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Babatuyi also extended condolences to the family of the deceased and prayed God to give them the fortitude to bear the loss.
“We received the shocking news of the death of the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with dismay. He was a friend of the media and always exuded humility and respect. There is no doubt that Barr. Paul Omotoso had impact on Ekiti politics and would not be forgotten so soon. On behalf of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Ekiti State, I commiserate with Governor Oyebanji, the All Progressives Congress and the immediate family of the deceased. May the Almighty God grant everyone the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss”, he said.
