A group in the Ekiti State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party named PDP Party Faithful in Ido/ Osi, has congratulated the former Commissioner for Works, Ogun Funmilayo Theresa (OFT) on her emergence as the Distinguished Female Politician of the Year.
The group stressed that the award, which will be conferred on her on Thursday, September 26, 2024 by members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ), Correspondents’ Chapel, in Ado Ekiti, further confirmed that Funmi Ogun has become a recognised political force in Ekiti State and beyond.

Fadahunsi felicitated the female politician and leader of the OFT political family in the state. He said the award would serve as morale booster for her to make loftier contributions to the growth of Ekiti political space.
The group emphasized the need for respectable group to always recognise people of sound virtues for awards, the way correspondents’ Chapel has done in this case, saying this will be a good way to build a honest society that we can all be proud of.
Fadahunsi said Funmi Ogun’s contributions to the growth of Ekiti State in terms of development as a Commissioner worth being celebrated, adding that her exploits as a PDP State Secretary, also helped in building a more virile political space that enhanced the growth of democracy.
“We congratulate our leader, Mrs Ogun Funmilayo Theresa and leader of OFT political family on this feat. This is another colorful feather to her numerous and highly fitted caps. By every standard, it is a well deserved award because our principal has proven to be a distinguished female politician in Ekiti State.
“When she was a commissioner, the 1.2kms flyover built at Fajuyi-Ojumose junction was constructed under her supervision among other high-brow and legacy projects instituted during the second term of Governor Ayodele Fayose.
“Funmi Ogun has also become a notable free giver and philanthropist in Ekiti State. She has awarded scholarships to many indigent students and provided empowerments for many vulnerable groups.
“In Ekiti State today, she remains the loudest voice of the voiceless. She is the most vocal opposition trying to constructively engage the government on how to improve governance and performance to benefit the masses.
“With people like Funmi Ogun in the Ekiti’s political enclave, the future is surely bright for our dear state. I appreciate the NUJ , Correspondents’ Chapel for this honour that is well earned and deserved by our principal “.
